Libra season marks the Autumnal Equinox and the balance of the year.

it’s also the halfway point through the zodiac wheel and in Babylonian myth was called the
“balance of heaven”.

Venus ruled Librans seek to find love, harmony and beauty in all things.

this sign is also about judgements and the law of man, making choices and being aware of the consequences of those choices.

the focus is always on conflict resolution and making the ultimate choice of love; which can at times be the hardest choice to make.

Libra shows us that creating harmony does not inherently mean we must appease situations but can instead mean that we instill firm boundaries for ourselves or others in order to create a state of equanimity.

this week is the pagan holy day called Mabon. it has been celebrated as a harvest celebration for thousands of years dating back to the Neolithic age.

Mabon marks a turn in the Wheel of the Year. in the northern hemisphere, we move from summer to autumn.

this is an opportunity to give thanks for the seasons bounty and release anything that no longer serves us as we move inward towards the winter solstice.

traditionally, we honored fertility and harvest goddesses during this time of year. we offered these goddesses like Demeter, Autumnus (where the word autumn arose from) and Braciaca gratitude for their blessed bounties.

historically, these bounties would sustain us through the winter months. so honoring these dieties was of major importance to our ancestors.

in paganism, Mabon is considered the original Thanksgiving. which makes sense with this being the time of year of harvest and giving gratitude.
